Manifestations of Dystopia in Contemporary Movie Poster Design
Abstract
Dystopia frequently manifests in various aspects of life, notably in graphic design for film posters, a domain ripe for exploring dystopian themes. This research highlights the theoretical importance of developing awareness and understanding of dystopian visual messages in movie posters, offering a deeper comprehension of how these themes shape societal attitudes, beliefs, and values. Additionally, it addresses the applied significance for graphic design practitioners in aligning their work with dystopian concepts. The study specifically examines how NETFLEX leverages technical advancements in the industry to enhance dystopian themes in movie poster design, suggesting that these organizations strategically plan their visual communication to provoke public discourse. The findings indicate a managerial policy for design companies to effectively present ideas that challenge public opinion, especially regarding dystopia. This research fills a knowledge gap by providing insights into the intersection of graphic design and dystopian themes, aiming to enhance both theoretical understanding and practical application in the field.
